What We Teach
What We Teach
Everyone is a theologian. Everyone has an idea of what God is like. Even if you doubt that He exists you have thoughts about Him, and that is the basic essence of theology. The real question of theology is this: are the thoughts we have about God accurate or not? We believe it is important to know who God really is - not just to rehearse our opinions about Him. That’s why we take doctrine and teaching seriously.
We teach that God has revealed Himself to us in creation but primarily and most clearly through His Son (Romans 1; John 1) and His written word (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 3:16; Matthew 4:1-11; Romans 15:4).
We believe that the Bible is God’s word and is the resource He has given the church, guided by His Spirit in order to direct all matters of faith and practice according to His will.
The Bible reveals that God is triune in nature (one God, three persons - Father, Son, and Spirit), is unrivaled in power and the sovereign ruler of all things, knows all things, is separate from all evil (1 John 1:5, and loves and redeems the His people (2 Peter 3:8-10; Ephesians 1:7).
The Bible reveals that God created the first man and woman perfect and without sin, and that they rebelled against His good and righteous authority and corrupted themselves. (Genesis 3)
The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of the Father was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died paying the penalty for human sin. (Romans 6:23)
The Bible reveals that all who put their faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins are declared righteous and justified based on the merits of Jesus Christ, not their own. (Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9)
